Data Storytelling
A Periodic Table of Hip Hop Artists
A dataset built to teach measurement validity, sampling bias, uncertainty communication, and visualization design — using a subject matter executives actually argue about.
About
LEW
My work explores intersection of law, data, and decision-making. My non-work work focuses on making rigorous analytic thinking accessible — through unexpected data sets, practical methodology, and data visualizations that tell stories.
PhD, Social Psychology, certificate in Research Methods and Data Analysis JD, concentration in Health Law Senior Research Associate / National Center for State Courts
I am particularly interested in the unintended consequences of legal decisions and legal interventions.
What I Do
Teaching
Executive and graduate education in data storytelling, measurement design, and evidence-based decision-making. I teach using datasets with documented flaws — because clean pedagogical data teaches the wrong lessons.
Research
Applied work within law, psychology, and data storytelling. Particular interest in construct validity, uncertainty quantification, and the politics of how metrics get built and used.
Projects
Independent projects that translate methodological ideas into interactive, shareable artifacts. The hip-hop table is one.
